GOATS THAT CLIMB TREES
Read the fact below.
Goats can climb trees! In Morocco goats climb Argan trees to consume its leaves and fruits. It seems to be amazing that goat can climb the trees; however, these goats are considered threat to the precious and valuable Argan trees. By the goat climbing and eating the leaves and the fruit, the goat stunt the growth of the tree. The Argan tree is endemic to the calcareous semi-desert Sous valley of southwestern Morocco and very important to the local farmers. Matured Argan seeds are used to produce high value oil popularly known as Argan Oil and source of income for the local farmers. The oil is said to be healthy and with very high commercial value. However, Argan trees are close to extinction because of the tree wood harvesting and because of the negative effect by the increasing climbing goats in Morocco. Local farmers are trying their best to preserve and promote the Argan ｔrees. We hope loggers will spare the trees and these goats will find other less valuable trees to climb or be satisfied with the grass!
