Social Butterflies

Lilly and Eliza sat watching TV in Brian’s apartment, feeling bored and rather listless. They had done absolutely nothing all day while he had sat playing a card game with his friend.
“So.” Eliza said impatiently. “We’re uh… just going to sit here. All day. Awesome.”
Lilly glanced at her and smiled, “Oh that was very subtle,” she said, but she looked over at Brian and said, “Seriously though, let’s go out and do something! Sitting inside all day isn’t healthy for anyone.”
Eliza chimed in with, “We could go bowling! Or to the beach! Something... Anything!”
Brian, who had not glanced up from his card game for one moment, said distractedly, “Uh huh, sure sounds great. Be there in just a second…”
Eliza and Lilly were used to these responses, and knew all too well that it would be hours before he surfaced to reality again.
The two girls stood up and walked over to the table where he was playing cards. The game was complex, and they had given up on trying to understand it months ago. It was one of those games that only the dorkiest of people could even hope to understand.
“So… you’re seriously going to just sit here and play games all day?”
“I’m a grown man! Don’t tell me what to do!!!” He snapped.
Eliza and Lilly burst out laughing and walked out the door.
