Part 1: Vocabulary words

1. remember verb [ri-mem-ber]

to recall knowledge from memory, think of again, to keep in mind

◼ Example: My best friend remembers my birthday every year.

2. Return verb [ri-turn]

To go back to an earlier condition or place

◼ Example: After twenty years, Joseph returned to Japan from the U.S.A.

3. watch verb [woch]

to look or observe attentively or carefully at something or someone

◼ Example: They watch a concert at Budokan.

4. worry verb [wur-ee, wuhr-ee]

to feel uneasy or concerned about something or someone; to feel troubled

◼ Example: The taxi driver drives very fast. His driving worries me.

5. Save verb [seyv]

to rescue from harm, danger, or loss

◼ Example: The veterinarian saved my dog’s life.

6. wear verb [wair]

to carry or have on the person as covering or protection, be dressed in

◼ Example: You should wear a coat when you go out in winter.

7. keep verb [keep]

to have for a very long time, to not throw away

◼ Example: He keeps a picture of his wife and daughter in his wallet.

8. build verb [bild]

to form by combining materials or parts; construct

◼ Example: The company will build a new shopping mall in Shibuya.

9. clean adjective [kleen]

having no dirt, stain; neat

◼ Example: This house is new and very clean.

10. happen verb [hap-uhn]

to take place, to do, be done by chance

◼ Example: A car accident happened near my house yesterday.
