Part 1: Vocabulary words

1. Grade noun [greyd]

the level or standard of an object, a place or a person

◼ Example: I will take the EIKEN Grade Pre-2 test next week.

2. Health noun [helth]

the condition of a person, place or thing; the state of being well or ill

◼ Example: My grandfather is 85-years-old, but he is in good health.

3. Match noun [mach]

one that is exactly like another, equal or similar with another

◼ Example: This color matches the other.

4. Neighbor noun [ney-ber]

the person who lives near or next to one another

◼ Example: My neighbors are very friendly. They always say “Hi” or “Hello” to everyone.

5. Novel noun [nov-uhl]

a book telling a long story

◼ Example: The novel about the lives of national heroes is very in demand among students.
◻ Note: We also use the word novel as an adjective when we talk about something new, different or unusual. For example, He has a novel idea.

6. Performance noun [per-fawr-muhns]

doing or performing a work or role in front of people or an audience; dramatic or musical entertainment

◼ Example: The performance of the actors is excellent.

7. Restroom noun

a room with toilets that is available to the public

◼ Example: Where is the restroom of this restaurant?

8. Route noun [root, rout]

a highway, a way to go somewhere, a road
Abbreviation: Rt. or Rte.

◼ Example: This is the shortest route to go to the center of the city.

9. Secret adjective [see-krit]

hidden from knowledge or view; unknown to, or not told to other people

◼ Example: She keeps her disease secret from everybody.

10. Statement noun [steyt-muhnt]

a message that is stated by writing or speech; a declaration

◼ Example: Because he always tells lies, no one would believe his statement.
