Part 1: Vocabulary words

1. Let verb [let]
to allow, to give permission

2. Decide verb [dih-sahyd]
to make a decision, to get the result of something
Example: She decided to quit her job because of the low salary.

3. Leave verb [leev]
to go away, to go out
Example: I always leave the room after the lesson.

4. Long adjective [long]
measuring a great distance from one end to the other
Example: The Shinano River is the longest river in Japan.

5. Move verb [moov]
to change one’s position from one point to another
Example: He moved the desk near him.

6. Spell verb [spel]
to form words by letters
Example: A: Spell your name, please.
B: The spelling of my name is A-K-I-K-O.

7. Pay verb [pey]
to give in return for goods or services, to give money in return for goods or services
Example: Please pay your bill at the cashier.

8. Change verb [cheynj]
to make or become different
Example: He changed his answer. It is correct now.

9. Practice verb [prak-tis]
to do often or repeatedly, to do repeatedly to become good
Example: To be a good English speaker, you have to practice many times.

10. Spend verb [spend]
to pay out (money), to use up
Example: I spent ten dollars for a movie ticket.
Example: He moved the desk near him.
