Part 1: Vocabulary words

1. lead verb (lēd)

to direct on a course or in a direction

◼ Example: The tour guide leads them to the cave.

2. raise verb (rāz)

to put something in a higher place or position

◼ Example: The students are raising their hands in class.

3. solve verb (sälv, sȯlv)

to find a solution, explanation, or answer for

◼ Example: I can’t solve my own problem.

4. wake verb (wāk)

to be or remain awake

◼ Example: Wake me up at 5:00am.

5. waste noun (wāst)

a situation in which time, money, or energy is used without bringing any useful result

◼ Example: The mother said it's a waste of money to buy junk foods.

6. advise verb (əd-vīz)

to give (someone) a recommendation about what should be done : to give advice to

◼ Example: Martha advised her husband to see a doctor.

7. arrange verb (ə-rānj)

to put into a proper order

◼ Example: They arranged the seats for the meeting.

8. belong verb (bi-lȯŋ, bē-)

to be owned by someone

◼ Example: This car belongs to me.

9. celebrate verb (se-lə-brāt)

to do something enjoyable in order to show that an occasion or event is special

◼ Example: How are you going to celebrate your birthday?

10. cheer noun (chir)

to give a loud shout of happiness or approval

◼ Example: The crowd cheered during the game.
