58: Yoda, the Four-Eared Feline

Cats are said to have nine lives, but Yoda, a cat from Downers Grove, Illinois got four ears courtesy of a genetic mutation. While the extra pair of ears may give the four-eared feline a devilish appearance, a local couple named Ted and Valerie Rock felt sorry for the poor then-eight-week-old kitty when they passed it by in a tavern, as it was being constantly mocked and hurled with nasty names such as “Devil Cat” and “Beelzebub”. So they decided to adopt the kitten from the pub owner who caged the pitiful animal atop the bar for the amusement of his customers. Having lost their cat of two decades just six months earlier, they saw something special in the gray kitten and decided to name it “Yoda” after the tiny Jedi master from Star Wars. Veterinarians have signed Yoda a clean bill of health, except for the possibility that his extra pair of ears might cause hearing impairments, but he is reported to be perfectly normal and energetic without any issues related to hearing. Since the four-eared feline got a taste of fame by appearing on several television programs and all over the Internet, the only thing the Rocks worry about these days is the risk of their curious pet being cat-napped.
